Going back to slow and small

The past one and half years since my move from Penang has been challenging. I went back to part-time work a month after I moved in and since then, I have not looked back. Some time in September 2016, I switched to full time. It has been hard trying to juggle a business and the stresses of a demanding job so I have been forced to choose between the two.

As such, come 13 February, I’ll be cutting back considerably on the amount of time I spend on the shop. This means smaller batches of soaps on a sporadic basis and hardly any promotions except for selected events. Even then I have yet to decide on which are the ones I’d want to focus on – Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas are a given for 2017.

There will be instances where I have to reject people because I have no stock.

My apologies. This decision doesn’t come easy.

I still have some fair amount of stock left (butters, oils, essential oils, herbs, powders, clays, etc) and am struggling to find a way to keep them “alive” while slowly reducing my stock. But most of all, this is something that I loved to do but…it has to make way for something that will help contribute significantly to the wellbeing of my family.

This isn’t quite a goodbye – I’ll still be around.

An upside to this would be that I will be able to go back to the early days when I first began soaping. That means more experimentation, going back to basics, and well, less pressure on meeting my sales & profit margins. Hopefully I’ll be able to share those experiments & experiences with you.

I want to thank those of you who have been and are still very supportive of my little business. It has been a wonderful six years and I look forward to more good things in the future.
