This was whipped up a while back for our family trip to Cambodia and has been in testing since then. It is packed with shea and mango butter to help keep skin moisturised and soft while the addition of essential oils such as citronella, 4 Thieves, peppermint, cedarwood and others help to shoo away those pesky mosquitos and other creepy crawlies! It makes for a great addition to your First Aid kit during travels as well as camping or hiking trips too.
NOTE: Due to the high % of essential oils in this balm, please refrain from using this on children below 1 yo and if you’re pregnant, use with caution. Also, the colour of the balm is dependent on the beeswax used and will vary from batch to batch.

Mango butter is a soft solid butter with a slightly sweet scent and is known for its moisturising, wound healing and regeneration properties. It also helps protect the skin against UV radiation and is a good alternative to shea butter for those who are allergic to tree nuts.
Shea butter is rich in essential fatty acids and natural antioxidant compounds that promote cell regeneration and growth. It also contains natural sun-protection qualities. Note that shea butter comes from a nut and thus is not suitable for anyone with tree nut allergies.
The blend of essential oils is designed to act as an insect repellant and is high in oils that are packed with naturally occuring compounds that mosquitos and other creepy crawlies do not like.
Beeswax has a comedogenic rating of 0-2 and is a non-irritant (unless you are allergic to bees). It has emollient and softening properties and works well as a humectant. It is one of the few natural ingredients that remains active after processing, retaining some anti-bacterial properties (it also contains Vitamin A). We use locally sourced (and direct from the producer) organic pure beeswax which has a golden honey colour due to staining that occurs when bees gather & store pollen, propolis and nectar in the hive.
Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant and promotes healing. It also aids in retarding rancidity in natural oils, making it an all-natural preservative.0 likes
