A big announcement!

I had intended to keep this under the wraps until things were a little more final but that didn’t quite work out as planned!

Anyway…

I will be taking a break (somewhat reluctantly, to be honest) from soaping beginning from either mid-June to July 1st to facilitate a (possible) cross-country move. My husband was posted to Penang on a contract two years ago and come this July, that contract will be expiring so we’re looking to either stay on in Malaysia or move to other pastures. At this time, we are not quite certain of the location (hence why my decision to keep this under wraps at first) – I am hoping for somewhere close to home such as Singapore.

So beginning from May 1st, I am unable to take on any more custom orders (those who have contacted me prior to May 1st are in the “safe zone”). There will still be soaps and other skincare products for sale up till circa end of May to middle of June. I am planning on running a few promotions so if you have any orders, plan it for after 10 May when I kickstart the promos! All orders will definitely be shipped before I move (am planning to have 15 June as the deadline) so don’t worry about that bit!

In the meantime, I am clearing up my stock of carrier oils, butters and essential oils so once some of my regular items are finished, I won’t be making any until after we have settled into our new place. This will be reflected in the “Stock Update” page so do check it out if you can. A number of the old favourites will make its way back – Kopi O is already on the curing rack and Tofu is on the “to-do” list once I get back from my Labour Day break (May 1-10). I will also be launching a new liquid soap for sensitive skin and babies (you can have the option of unscented or scented) then.

To get a full list of what is available or what’s in the pipeline, you can also drop me a note either via email, WA or PM on Facebook.

In the meantime, my heartfelt thanks for your support and kindness since I started Mabel ::: Savonniere in 2011. It has been a good four years and I hope to get back to speed once things are clearer and definite!

Venetian Pink Clay Scrub & Mask

Venetian Pink Clay Scrub & Mask

Facial clay scrub & mask • Normal-dry skin • Contains essential oils

Key ingredients: Superfine pink & white clay, barley powder and powders of rosehip & Damask rose

Made with gentle superfine clays sourced from France and a powdery mix of barley, rosehip and Damask rose, this dual function clay mask is wonderful for those with normal to dry skin seeking to detoxify skin. It is simple, versatile and easy to use – simple mix 1-2 tsp of the clay mix with a liquid of your choice (water, milk, fruit or veg juice and even tea!) and apply liberally onto your face. You can add other goodies such as honey and yogurt – the sky is the limit!

Size
40g & 80g net jars

Price
RM13 per 40g net jar • RM25 per 80g net jar

Contents | Superfine French clays (white & pink), powders of honey, rosehip, barley and Damask rose, essential oils, Vitamin E.

Special Notes:
White clay, also known as kaolin clay, gets its name from the city of Kao Ling (“land of high hills”) where it was first discovered. Today, this superfine clay is extracted from quarries in the Provence region of France and sundried to help lock its minerals and healing properties. It is a naturally reoccuring mineral and is rich in silica, making it suitable for dry and sensitive skin. It also has a high percent of alumina (23%) which is renowned for its healing properties.

Pink clay is actually a mixture of red illite clay and white kaolin clay. Mined from quarries in the Provence and later sundried, this clay is known for its soothing properties, making it suitable for sensitive and fragile skin. It has a healing effect and restores radiance to one’s complexion.

Made from the petals of the Damask rose (which are harvested by hand and dried in the open), Damask rose powder is known to have antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and purifying properties. Its regenerating and toning properties makes it a suitable addition in cosmetics for all skin types especially sensitive and irritated skin.

Commonly used in many Asian cultures in cooking and even cosmetics, barley powder is known for its skin lightening properties. It is rich in azelaic acid, an anti-acne compound and is known to help those suffering from hyperpigmentation or age spots. Some breeds of barley such as black or purple barley may also help slow down aging and prevent wrinkles.

How To Use:
To use, scoop up some powder (about 1-2 tsp) into a clean bowl and gradually add water/liquid of your choice. Mix to reach your desired consistency (paste, runny slurry, etc). Pull your hair back and apply evenly to your face. Let it dry for 2-5 minutes for sensitive skin up to 8-12 minutes for oily skin. The mask does NOT need to be fully dry. Rinse off with warm water and a washcloth. Moisturise as usual.

Note that your skin may feel tingly and warm during application and even after rinsing off – this is normal and a sign that the mask is doing its job of detoxifying.

Storage:
Store away from direct light and heat, and always keep the jar firmly closed. Only dilute with the liquids of your choice when needed. Discard at the first sign of an “off-putting” smell.
